Event Details

It is finally summertime!  Please join us for OCR Friday, our studio's salon-style gathering featuring an individual or group working at the intersections of data, research-based art, and creative methodologies.
This June, we are delighted to welcome Candy Chan, a New York City-based architect and graphic designer specializing in high-rise residential and retail design.

With a keen interest in infrastructure, mass transit, signage and way-finding, Candy launched Project Subway NYC in the summer of 2015. A personal project, Project Subway NYC is a home to her intricate 3D visualizations of the city's subway stations, with an ongoing collection of trivia, sketches, and photographs.  Her work has been featured in FastCoDesign, Tech Insider, City Lab, and the Gothamist, and she is a presenter and guest critic at the Parsons New School’s School of Constructed Environments.

Candy received her undergraduate degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Hong Kong and her Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

We will have beer and snacks.  As always, please de-register or let us know if you cannot make it so we can make room for additional guests.  We are excited to see you at our studio!

The Office for Creative Research

The Office for Creative Research is a multidisciplinary research group exploring new modes of engagement with data, through unique practices that borrow from both the arts and sciences. OCR clients are research partners, helping to pose, refine and ultimately solve difficult problems with data. We are reshaping the relationship between client and designer, client and technologist, client and data scientist.  Technology is an uncomfortable partner in research practices, driving discussions to questions of existing capabilities. OCR is creating a new approach to solving problems with technology – asking not just what could be but what should be.
