About this event

  • 1 hour

As part of the annual World Ocean Day Celebration on Saturday, June 8th, Coach Erinne Guthrie of Full Circle Coaching will lead a 1-mile open water swim in celebration of our world ocean. Time is ticking to save our blue planet so join us in this friendly 30-minute challenge competition in an effort to raise awareness and foster ocean stewardship.

Register today! This is a (mostly) free community event but space in the exhibition swim is limited and advance registration is required, including the completion of this Release of Liability Agreement. The $10 entry fee for this particular activity helps to offset our cost for City of Miami Beach permit, lifeguards and safety personnel.

Swim participants MUST:

  • bring their own goggles and brightly colored swim caps
  • have basic swimming ability to complete a 1-mile open water distance
  • bring a reusable water bottle (refill station available)
  • be accompanied by an adult if under 18 years of age
  • register here and complete the Release of Liability Agreement

This event is part of the World Ocean Day Celebration, presented by Ocean Bank and hosted by Blue Scholars Initiative and ARTSail. Additional water-based activities, volunteer impact, and art installations will be offered on the beach at 35th Street from 8am-12pm. The event is open to the public so all are invited to join in to celebrate our shared ocean.

Special thanks to the Dolphins & Rainbows Swim Group and Full Circle Coaching for their generous support!

This activity is weather dependent. Forecasts will be monitored and the swim event will be canceled if conditions are deemed not suitable.

We empower youth to catch the prevailing winds in their sails, explore the wonders of Marine Science, and discover their crucial role in our Earth’s future.

Blue Scholars Initiative engages students in marine biology, marine ecology and watershed concepts, providing a better understanding of, and connection to, the marine ecosystem and the impact of human stresses. Through hands-on, experiential learning, students further investigate the rich biodiversity beneath the surface, conduct citizen science and develop a passion for the environment, inspiring our next generation of ocean stewards to solve our most pressing and difficult issues.

Blue Scholars Initiative is a free educational program inviting each participating group to perform a Community Service Project (CSP) to earn their trip. CSPs provide an opportunity for students to not only work together and connect with their peers, but also to develop life-skills while learning the value of giving back to benefit the community.
