Greetings hackers!

We greatly appreciate your interest in the NEREID Ocean Innovation Hackathon scheduled for World Ocean Day 2026! Unfortunately due to some unforeseen life events, we’ve elected to postpone the event indefinitely. While we’re all still very excited about the prospect of hosting events like this in the future, we’re going to refocus on building some critical organizational infrastructure first.

One part of that infrastructure we’re most excited about is the NEREID Ocean Research Residency Program! We’re still working on finalizing the specifics of this program, but as part of our commitment to connecting New England ocean conservationists and makers, we’ll be opening resources including (but not limited to) our Slack Pro workspace and Google Drive organization to make it easier for you to find collaborators and work on your independent projects! 

We know the cancellation of our Hackathon may be a bit disappointing, but we’re hoping to continue offering opportunities to hackers and researchers like you in the future, and to build a network of makers who share our passion for Ocean stewardship.
