OBX Speed Training

Come join us for OBX Speed Training at 100 Veterans Drive! These in-person sessions are perfect for athletes looking to improve their speed and agility. First Flight High School lacrosse coach, John Van Lunen, will lead you through drills and exercises to help you reach your full potential. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned athlete, these workouts are designed to help you enhance your performance on the field or court. Don't miss out on this opportunity to take your game to the next level!

Workouts will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on the First Flight High School track. They will start at 8:00am and end at 9:15am. Boys and girls are welcome. All athletes, from rising 6th graders through college, are welcome. Workouts will often include:

  • Dynamic Warm-up
  • Form Running and Plyometrics
  • Timed sprints- recorded and ranked using Freelap Timing System
  • Video review of running form
  • Agility Drills
  • Range of Motion
  • Post-stretch

Coach Van Lunen holds a master's degree in physical education and has over 25 years of coaching experience. Training sessions are designed to improve stride rate, stride length, starts, sprinting efficiency, and push-off.

*These sessions are not ideal for distance runners.
