Work with award-winning choreographer Deborah Slater to explore the ways in which props can be integrated into dance performance.

<h3>How can props be used to enhance, divert, or connect the story your performance is trying to tell? How can you consider the objects as performers? </h3>In this 3-hour workshop, participants will learn how to utilize props to their fullest potential through activities that explore juxtaposition of expectation, object as dance partner, unexpected uses, and more! Attendees will work with objects and furniture in the studio to discover the full range of possibilities of objects in performance. Participants should also bring a prop to work with -- something that holds meaning, but is not too precious to be played with, as items may become damaged through the exercises. (Don’t bring that treasured photo of grandma!) If you have any questions about the prop you’re planning to bring, please contact deborah@deborahslater.org. Expect to explore, move, create, and connect during this 3-hour workshop. Space is limited to 12 participants. Workshops may also include writing and text.Participants must show proof of full vaccination prior to attending the workshop &amp; must wear face masks covering nose and mouth for the duration of the workshop.
