NYC for Racial Justice Input Session

Hamilton-Madison HouseNew York, NY
Sep 9 , 2021 at 5:00 PM EDT
Overview

The NYC Racial Justice Commission will host a Public Input Session on structural changes in the NYC Charter to achieve racial equity.

City government plays a major role in ensuring all New Yorkers live in thriving, healthy, safe communities – and a legal document called the NYC Charter is what determines HOW government fulfills that role. Now through December 2021, the Racial Justice Commissioners will be engaging the public to identify structural changes to the city’s Charter that begin to dismantle structural racism and advance racial equity.

The Racial Justice Commission invites community members to attend NYC Racial Justice Commission Public Input Sessions in the five boroughs or online, and provide input on critical issues the Commission should address through changes to the NYC Charter that would have the greatest impact on the lives of BIPOC New Yorkers. This is a unique opportunity to directly affect the foundational laws of the City, and transform those laws to reflect racial justice, equity, fairness in a way that ensures all New Yorkers live thriving healthy lives regardless of race.
