About this event

Welcome

Are you wanting to develop empathic and resilient community and friendship?

Are you interested in Nonviolent communication or are you longing for more after reading Marshall Rosenberg's book or your Intro course.

Whether you are curious about NVC, or a beginner or facilitator or somewhere in between. this is a friendly and welcoming space to connect and learn.

This is our 5th iteration of the NVC London Community day.

Timetable for the day

See the timetable below. You might want to participate in Listening Circles or Breakout spaces in the afternoon. You might want to come and chill and smell the roses.

2024 Theme - Collaboration

We have always had a theme; in 2016 we integrated the Brexit referendum result, in 2017 and 2018, we explored Community and Belonging. In 2019, we focussed on Play.

For 2024, the theme is Collaboration. How can we collaborate in this dominant, "patriarchal paradigm of powerlessness, separation and scarcity", as Miki Kashtan puts it, drawing on Marshall Rosenberg's exploration of what life is like in domination cultures.

Contributing, Organising and Costs

We need help organising and hosting the event, particularly looking for a photographer, someone to help with signage, to welcome people on the day and to host listening circles Please indicate your willingness to help in this form. The event is organised by volunteers.

After the Opening Circle and Listening Circles, we will have 2 x 1hr slots for NVC related or other kinds of sessions. Please tell us beforehand if you would like to offer a session and also what you would like to request. Please indicate your ideas in this form

Note: We are likely to get more offers than there is space and time for. We do not have time to be making decisions about offerings on the day so this will be largely decided ahead of time.. We (Ceri and Emma, and anyone else helping with programming) will choose offers based on a)if they respond to requests b) having a range of offers. Note: it's generally helpful to have an 'intro to NVC' session

Please contribute what you can towards organising costs - we are asking for £10/15 or £20 but get in touch if cost is a barrier and we'll make it work for you.

The initial stages of organising has been by Ceri Buckmaster and Emma Buggy with Venue Liaison and other input by Tom Hitchman. Find out more about NVC training opportunities in London here and in the UK here
