Ozaukee County Equity Roundtable

An intergenerational community-building workshop for all ages

Community United Methodist Church

Discover the difference that empathy makes for healthier, stronger communities and families, and learn how you can practice it! This intergenerational workshop will feature presentations by Dr. Ruha Benjamin of Princeton University and Beth Albright of the Cedarburg Children's Theater.

Dr. Ruha Benjamin is a sociologist and Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University. Her recent books include Imagination: A Manifesto and Viral Justice: How We Grow the World We Want. She will share her presentation "From Artificial Intelligence to Collective Wisdom: Building Our Capacity for Empathy, Justice and Imagination in the Digital Age".

Beth Albright is Director of the Cedarburg Children's Theater and a professional actress known for her role on the NBC daytime drama "Days of Our Lives" and other programs. She will talk about the power of drama and the arts for teaching empathy and the difference that parents can make by their example.

A demonstration of empathy through a scene from the Cedarburg Children's Theater production of "Grinch", followed by a presentation by Beth Albright on what empathy is, how to encourage it, and how the arts can help build empathy in children.
