About this event

  • 3 hours

Join us for a volunteer day at SRT's Dry Creek Nursery, where we grow California native and drought-tolerant plants for landscaping and restoration purposes! Volunteer activities are tailored to allow people of all ages and abilities to participate. Tasks include a range of activities from horticultural (planting, transplanting, weeding, etc.) to nursery maintenance (raking/sweeping, organizing inventory, etc.).

Nursery volunteer days are held on the first and third Fridays of every month. For more information, please feel free to check out our social media accounts or reach out to our Education and Volunteer team at education@sequoiariverlands.org. Looking forward to seeing you out there!

Frequently asked questions

What will we be doing?

Nursery Volunteer Days can involve activities ranging from native plant propagation, potting or repotting plants, preparing for plant sales and other nursery maintenance tasks, or working on the preserve itself. All volunteer tasks can be modified and tailored to fit with your ability and comfort!

What should I wear/bring?

We will be working outdoors, so please dress accordingly! This often means wearing layers to accomodate changing weather throughout the day. Closed-toe shoes or boots are highly recommended, as is a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen! All necessary tools and gloves will be provided.

Should I bring water?

We have potable water on site, but please bring your own refillable water bottle to fill throughout the day.

Are there bathrooms?

Yes! We have flush toilets at Dry Creek Preserve, which are easily accessible from the nursery and the parking lot.

Can I bring kids?

Yes! All of our volunteer days are open to people of all ages, and we try to tailor activities to the abilities of our volunteers. Please reserve a "ticket" for all kids and adults that will be attending, so we can plan accordingly!

Where will we meet?

Dry Creek Nursery is at Dry Creek Preserve, which is about 24 miles east of Visalia, just outside of Woodlake, CA. We will be meeting at the nursery itself, which is right next to the main parking lot.

Is there a cost?

No, our volunteer events are free! As a non-profit organization, we always appreciate donations :)

Do volunteer hours count for Community Service Hours?

Yes, any time spent volunteering with us can count as Community Service. Please let us know if you have certain requirements that you need to meet, so we can work with you accordingly. We are happy to sign off on any documentation that you need as well.
