Amenkhumra began studying Khamitik/Ancient Egyptian spirituality and culture over 30 years ago. He studied at the Shrine of Ptah in Brooklyn, New York, with the Chief Priest of the Shrine, Sen Ur Heru Ankh Ra Semahj, also known as Baba Heru. While studying with Baba Heru, Amenkhumra learned the art of Hesi or chanting of the Khamitik sounds, the Metu Neter, commonly known as Hieroglyphics. After studying Hesi and developing his own style of expression through chanting and writing, Amenkhumra began to perform Hesi around his hometown community of Washington, DC at open mics and chanting circles.

Amenkhumra had the incredible opportunity to perform his hesi chanting on Erykah Badu’s album, called New Amerykah Part 1 (4th World War), on her song called Twinkle and on Erykah’s follow up album called, New Amerykah Part 2 (Return of the Ankh), on her song called Incense. He also performed with Erykah live on tour at locations around the country, including in her hometown of Dallas, Texas and Amenkhumra’s hometown, Washington, DC.

Amenkhumra currently teaches the Solar Arts: Hesi chanting, breathing, Aliveness nutrition, Attention Stillness presence and direct realization methods for Awakening Awareness Aliveness. He has been an Aliveness Vegan eater or Rawvegan for over 26 years and knows through direct experience this living truth, “We are what we eat and know! And, “A cooked seed will never grow!”
