About this event

Who should take the course?

This course is designed health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation. This includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse midwives, respiratory therapists, and other health care professionals who provide direct care during neonatal resuscitation.

Course Covers

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program was developed by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics to teach an evidence-based approach to newborn care.

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.

Course Delivery

The curriculum is divided into two parts.

Part 1 focuses on building a foundation of neonatal resuscitation knowledge and includes activities outside of the classroom setting, including:

  • Self-study of the textbook
  • Online Learning Assessment
  • NRP Advanced Exam

Part 2 is the hands-on portion of the course and takes place in the classroom. It includes:

  • The Performance and Integrated Skills Stations
  • Simulation and debriefing of a team-based scenario.
