Citizens Safety Academy

The NRA Basic Rifle course is roughly eight hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles (including carbines). This is not a defensive course or a tactics course. The goal is simply familiarization, basic operation, marksmanship, and of course, safety. Course topics will include:

<LI>rifle parts and operation</LI>
<LI>ammunition</LI>
<LI>shooting fundamentals</LI>
<LI>range rules</LI>
<LI>shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions</LI>
<LI>Rifle cleaning</LI>
<LI>Continued opportunities for skill development</LI>
<LI>And more!</LI>

Details on the classroom and range location will be sent directly to the registered students. Students will receive the NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, take a written exam, and receive a course completion certificate. This course is also a mandatory prerequisite for th NRA Rile Instructor Certification, which we'll be teaching the next day.
