Nowrooz

The Office of Global Services (OGS) is a resource for Northeastern’s community of international students, scholars, and their families. We provide professional expertise and support from the time of admission to after graduation, to ensure that our community maintains compliance through their immigration, academic and employment experiences. We also collaborate with students, scholars, and other offices at Northeastern to enhance the international character of the university and help our community build connections and share their values and stories across the university and through out Boston.

Nowrooz is celebrated in many Middle Eastern countries as the beginning of a new year as well as the first day of Spring. In this event, friends, and family gather together to cherish memories of past years as well as starting the new one with each other. Nowrooz is celebrated widely in Iran, however, Nowrooz is also celebrated in Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, China (some areas), Georgia, India, Turkmenistan, Kazakstan, Pakistan, Russia (some areas), Syria, Turkey and a few others. In this event, we plan to host people from these countries as well as students who are eager to learn about this cultural aspect of Middle East to those who are hundreds of miles away from their family feel at home as well as providing a safe learning environment for those curious. We will have a catered meal as well as music and dance performances from those regions.
Registration Required. Please register with your Husky/Northeastern email address.
Registration opens on the 10th of March.
Waiver: Please read the Release and Indemnification Agreement below carefully and sign your name electronically when registering.  'With regard to my participation in the program organized and sponsored by the Office of Global Services at Northeastern University, do hereby, along with the administrators, executors, heirs and assigns, I release and forever discharge Northeastern University and its trustees, officers, agents and employee, (hereafter, collectively referred to as, "the University" and the Office of Global Services at Northeastern University, (hereafter, collectively referred to as "The OGS") from any claims, demands, actions and causes of action, of every name and nature that I now have, or may ever have, arising out of my participation in, including travel to and from, the program. As a participant in the OGS Event I have read and understand this document and I am signing it of my own free will, to be accepted as a participant in the program."
