About this event
Ballet with Emily
Emily Wratten will lead a traditional ballet class with a contemporary influence and modern values. We will work with a varied playlist and range of exercises to cover all aspects of fitness in a relaxed atmosphere. Emily strives to create a supportive and inclusive environment where dancers can thrive in their joy for movement.
Emily Wratten specialises in ballet and contemporary dance and has a wealth of experience teaching various dance techniques. She has also toured as a performer and choreographer in the UK and abroad. After completing her professional training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, she went on to gain registered teaching status with the Royal Academy of Dance.
About class
This class is open to dance practitioners of all abilities and experiences and is perfect for anyone who hasn't danced for a while. We want to create a supportive environment that allows anyone trained in dance many moons ago to return and reignite their love for dance. Perhaps a dance teacher running their own dance school who wants to move for their own enjoyment.
Following the class, the brilliant Resound Theatre (IG: resound_theatre) will be performing their new work, The Carriage at The Hullabaloo at 19:30.
It’s a great opportunity to make a night of it- come for class, stay for the performance, and support fellow artists in the region!
(Ticket link for the performance will be shared once live.)
Finally, our programme for Dance Practitioners is subsidised, and therefore, participants must meet the following criteria to benefit from this provision.
Participants must:
Be over 18 years old.
No longer be studying within a formal education context.
Hold a completed qualification in creative arts at Level 5 (foundation degree) or Level 6 (undergraduate degree) or higher, or an equivalent e.g., Scottish Bachelor's Degree or international qualification. As well as artists working professionally with more informal training.
Be currently based in or from the North East (Tees Valley, County Durham, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear)
Please note: that spaces for professional activities are limited and offered to those who meet the above criteria to ensure those who are pursuing a career in dance can access suitable training, support and professional development to meet their needs within the professional dance industry. TeesDance reserves the right to amend the qualifying criteria where appropriate.
