About this event

  • 2 hours

Do any of these describe you?

  • You know your neurodivergence is impacting your ability to feed yourself and you'd like support.
  • The eating disorder recovery support you've been receiving doesn't feel affirming, or isn't addressing your unique concerns.
  • You're tired of feeling like there is something wrong with you because of your struggles with food.
  • A family member (perhaps your child) struggles with food and feeding, and you're looking for ND-affirming resources.
  • You feel like every aspect of food and eating is a struggle, from acquiring, to prepping, to the act of eating itself.

If so, this workshop is for you!

I’ll go over common challenges ND folks face in these areas:

  • Getting Food on the Table (acquiring & preparing food)
  • Recognizing & Responding to Hunger Cues (knowing when to eat & deciding to do so)
  • The Actual Process of Eating (sometimes eating is really, really hard)
  • Social/Emotional Factors (eating can be even harder with other people around)
  • Bonus category: Holidays and their particular challenges

I’ll share my own story of struggling with food as a neurodivergent person, including the accommodations and strategies I’ve used to help me nourish myself. Throughout we'll discuss helpful strategies and tools, and participants will be invited to ask questions and share what has worked for them!

Please feel free to bring a fidget toy or comfort object, to keep your camera off, and to have snacks and water available during the workshop. There will be a 10 minute break halfway through.

Security measures: Registration is required for this event. I will also ask all participants to say their name and briefly share what brought them to the workshop.
