Join us for the opening reception of <A HREF="http://aliceausten.org/exhibitions/upcoming/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">North Shore</A> on September 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, at Alice Austen House.
For his first solo museum exhibition, <A HREF="http://designtrust.org/people/fellows/gareth-smit/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gareth Smit</A> has been visually documenting the changes and community responses during a rapid growth on the North Shore of Staten Island. Smit delves into personal stories about living in an urban area during a time of dramatic physical and cultural shifts. North Shore is the culmination of Smit's work completed as Design Trust's Future Culture Photo Urbanism Fellow.
The exhibition runs through December 23, 2017.
<A HREF="http://designtrust.org/programs/future-culture-photo-urbanism/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Future Culture Photo Urbanism Fellowship</A> of Design Trust for Public Space is in collaboration with Alice Austen House, as part of <A HREF="http://designtrust.org/projects/future-culture/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Future Culture: Connecting Staten Island's Waterfront</A>, a project of Design Trust for Public Space in partnership with Staten Island Arts.
