Nonstructural Flood Proofing Measures Workshop - Voorheesville, NY

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District

The US Army Corps of Engineers, with support of the National Nonstructural Committee, Federal Emergency Management Agency, New York State (NYS) Department of Environmental Conservation, and NYS Department of Homeland and Emergency Services will present a program related to nonstructural flood proofing measures which can be applied to residential and commercial structures. 
Nonstructural measures are permanent or contingent measures applied to a structure and/or its contents that prevent or provide resistance to damage from flooding. 
Nonstructural measures differ from structural measures in that they focus on reducing the consequences of flooding instead of focusing on reducing the probability of flooding.
Topics: Dry flood proofing techniques, wet flood proofing techniques, and mitigation programs. 
Persons encouraged to attend include elected officials, town engineers, building enforcement and zoning staff, and emergency management personnel.
