NOACA - Long Range Transportation Plan

The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) is a transportation and environmental planning agency serving Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties. NOACA:Is the federally designated metropolitan planning organization for northeast Ohio, and is charged with determining which proposed highway, bikeway and transit projects will receive federal funding.Works with the Ohio Department of Transportation, project sponsors and other organizations to help address northeast Ohio’s transportation, air quality, and water quality needs.Conducts metropolitan planning for vehicles, freight, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, etc., while considering the transportation system’s impact on the environment and land use.Prepares the region’s long-rangetransportation planand short rangetransportation improvement program, which is the capital budget for federally funded transportation projects.Conducts studies that address congestion, improve safety and strengthen community livability.Is directed by a 45-memberBoard of Directors, plusStanding Committees,Task Forces and Advisory Councils.Employs a diversestaffof planners, engineers, GIS specialists, accountants, IT professionals, and communications and support specialists.

Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA)

Over the next 20 years NOACA will have approximately $13 billion available to be invested in the Northeast Ohio region’s transportation system. During that period of time, many economic, social and technological changes will take place. In 20 years, Northeast Ohio will likely not be the same as it is today.
So, what should the priorities be for those limited funds? Should the preferences of Millennials outweigh those of Baby Boomers? Is economic growth an important consideration? What about social equity? And, does anything new need to be built or should there be an emphasis on maintaining and repairing what’s already there?
Join a panel of experts who will weigh in on these and other issues concerning the 20 year vision of the region’s transportation system. Be sure to bring your thinking cap, because you and other attendees will take part in a series of short discussions about these issues and your comments will be documented by notetakers for inclusion in the 20 year plan.
