A fast-paced, one-act show, No Exit is one of philosopher Jean Paul Sartre's most notable works. It draws upon the grim psychological anxieties that arose during the second world war and its aftermath, as many people began questioning their life’s purpose and grappling with the human penchant for cruelty. Our three main characters find themselves trapped in a well-furnished drawing room with a couple of irksome strangers as they attempt to cajole, provoke, ignore, seduce, belittle, destroy and save each other. No Exit asks the question: are other people fated to be our downfall or our salvation?
