About this event

You don’t need a publicist or a five-figure PR retainer to get featured. You just need the right pitch—and someone who’s been behind the scenes.

I’m Dr. Janice Gassam Asare. I'm a senior contributing writer who has written for Forbes, Fast Company, Business Insider and Harvard Business Review. Over the past 7 years, I’ve reviewed thousands of pitches—and I know exactly what gets noticed (and what gets ignored).

This workshop is designed for authors, entrepreneurs, creatives, and changemakers—especially those whose voices are often overlooked by traditional media—who want to get their work seen without gatekeepers or industry connections.

You’ll Learn:

  • How to write a pitch that actually gets read (and responded to)
  • The 3 biggest mistakes people make when pitching themselves
  • What makes an email pitch stand out in a crowded inbox
  • How to communicate your value clearly—without shrinking or over-explaining
  • How to navigate a biased media landscape while staying true to your voice

What You Get:

  • 90-minute live Zoom workshop (Wednesday, May 22 at 7PM ET)
  • Live Q&A to get your media visibility questions answered
  • Replay access for 14 days for VIPs

Ticket Options:

General Admission – $77 (Early Bird until May 2), $97 after
Includes full workshop + 24-hour replay access

VIP Admission – $147

Scholarships Available

Frequently asked questions

Is this workshop just for people with books?

Nope! This workshop is for anyone who wants to get media visibility—whether you're an entrepreneur, thought leader, creative, or doing mission-driven work. If you want to pitch yourself to media outlets and be seen, you're welcome here.

Do I need any prior experience with PR or media pitching?

Not at all. This workshop is beginner-friendly and designed to demystify media gatekeeping. Whether you’re just starting out or refining your approach, you’ll walk away with tangible, actionable strategies.

What if I can’t attend live?

No worries—everyone gets access to the replay for 24 hours (or 14 days for VIPs). You’ll be able to watch on your own time.

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds aren't offered, as all participants receive access to the full replay. Please double-check your availability before purchasing.

Can I gift a scholarship to someone else?

Yes! If you'd like to cover the cost of a ticket for someone who needs it, email me at janice@bwgbusinesssolutions.com and I’ll coordinate it on your behalf.

I applied for a scholarship. When will I hear back?

You’ll be notified via email by May 12th about the status of your application.

What does the VIP option include?

-Personalized feedback on a one-page pitch (with in-document comments + a short emailed voice note) -Extended replay access (14 days instead of 24 hours)

What if I’m not ready to pitch yet?

That’s totally okay. You’ll still benefit from the frameworks, templates, and real-life insights you can apply whenever you are ready. This is an investment in your future visibility.

Will I get featured in media if I take this workshop?

I can’t guarantee media features (no one can), but I will give you the tools and strategy to greatly increase your chances—and to pitch in a way that feels aligned, strategic, and impactful.

I purchased a VIP ticket—when will I receive my pitch feedback?

If you’re a VIP attendee, you’ll be asked to submit your one-page pitch after the live session. Once submitted, you’ll receive personalized feedback (Word doc comments + a short voice note) within 14 days of your submission.

When will I receive the Zoom link for the workshop?

All registered attendees will receive the Zoom link 2 days before the workshop sent to the email address you used to register. Double-check that you enter the correct email address when purchasing your ticket. If you don’t receive the link by May 20, check your spam or promotions folder first.

Organized by

Black White Green (BWG) Business Solutions was founded in 2018 by Dr. Janice Gassam Asare with the initial purpose of helping organizations and institutions attract, develop, and retain employees from racialized backgrounds.

BWG stands for "black, white, green" which was derived from the idea that diversity is not about black or white but green.

By focusing on the most marginalized, all employees will be benefit. We are past the point where businesses need to understand the "business case" for diversity.

Any company that fails to prioritize the needs of its employees, especially those from marginalized communities, will not be sustainable.
