Noah Jenkins’ new piece “a diapason, a diatesseron, a double suprabipartient” is a slow, heavy riff that stretches the sense of musical time as the tempo slows to half-time again and again and beats expand and contract in repeating cycles. "Ex Machina Remix" by Marc Mellits is originally a saxophone quartet now arranged for piano and vibraphone. Watch Jon and Kyle tackle the maximalist roller coaster of exciting music; they wear flannels to all of their concerts, including this performance! ~ New Music Chicago Presents brings a new body of repertoire and innovative performances to listeners in Chicago and beyond while also exposing new audiences to the world-class new music being created among Chicago musicians, in partnership with Experimental Sound Studio and supporters including the Illinois Arts Council, Paul M. Angell Family Foundation, Alice M Ditson Fund, the Aaron Copland Fund For New Music, Amphion Foundation, and individual donors.
