Adult Training Program in Psychoanalysis & Comprehensive Psychotherapy
A four-year program that integrates didactic, supervisory and clinical components in a rigorous training experience. NIP offers intensive comparative study of psychoanalytic theory and technique with an emphasis on recent advances in relational psychoanalysis, including object relations theory, self psychology and interpersonal psychoanalysis.
License Qualifying Program in Psychoanalysis & Comprehensive Psychotherapy
This program is designed for individuals with masters or PhD level degrees in fields other than social work or psychology who are interested in entering the field of psychoanalysis/psychotherapy. This includes lawyers with JDs as well as LMHCs and licensed masters level art therapists*. The program consists of a preliminary year, and four years in the Adult Training Program in Psychoanalysis.** Successful completion of this 5 year program leads to qualification for the New York State licensure application in psychoanalysis as well as a certificate in psychoanalysis and comprehensive psychotherapy from NIP.
Psychodynamic Approaches in Clinical Practice: A One Year Evening Program
The Psychodynamic Approaches in Clinical Practice program is designed specifically for mental health practitioners and educators who want to enhance their clinical knowledge, skill, and competence. The program offers an excellent foundation in psychoanalytic thought, and is useful for those who are considering analytic training in the future.
*MSWs, PsyDs, and PhDs in psychology should apply to the 4-year adult training program.
**In the spring trimester of the preliminary year, LQP candidates must apply to the Adult Training Program. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
