About this event

The NIHR Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Team (PPIE) are pleased to announce our first webinar to stimulate bi-directional learning. Exploring the interconnectedness of PPIE in domestic health and care research and Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) in global health research, the webinar will bring together experts in the field to share their experiences.

The discussions seek to address common challenges faced by health and care researchers working with people and communities, while also celebrating key highlights. There will be a specific focus on the experiences of CEI practitioners in the Global South who work in low resource settings or low capacity environments with marginalised groups. We investigate how their experiences can be translated to support the involvement of diverse groups and communities in UK domestic health research, and may be translatable into policy or practice in the UK NHS and social care context.

Key Speakers:

Dr. Walter Flores – A social scientist and human rights advocate with over 25 years of professional experience working in more than 30 countries worldwide with different population groups. We anticipate this bi-directional learning webinar will encourage exchange of knowledge and experiences, which is important in supporting shared learning, innovation and forming equitable partnerships.
