The theme for this year's performance is "Night of Icons," where they will perform songs of the late and great music legends. So, come along through this journey, and Let's Groove Tonight!
The Hackensack High School Dance Team was established in 2022 by a group of enthusiastic HHS alumni dancers led by Nayah Reagans. They aimed to create a safe space for students to express themselves through dance and cultivate their self-esteem. The HHSDT program is open to Hackensack High School students from grades 9 to 12 and is designed to develop leadership skills. In 2023, Mariah Fenner was appointed as the new HHSDT Captain during her Junior year, and she brought in new dancers and fresh energy to the team. As the dancers grew and matured, they developed their love for dance, performance, and skills. This led to the creation of a wide variety of dance genres taught by exceptional choreographers such as Janae Kilgore and Nia Watson under the expert guidance of Mr. Dennis Henry and Mrs. Arlena Brinson-Jones. The dance genres taught include contemporary, jazz, ballet, tap, liturgical, and hip-hop.
