Main Street Wellington and Jolly Roger Entertainment offer you a fun-filled Night at the Races to raise money for the July 3 and 4 Independence Day Celebration. The ticket includes admission, a derby-inspired meal, dessert, and a chance at a door prize. Additional games, race "betting", raffles, Derby Hat Contest, and a cash bar are also available.

Frequently asked questions

Are kids able to attend?

There is only 1 ticket price and so if you wish to purchase a ticket for a child you are welcome to. Please be advised that there may be some raucous behavior and adult humor based on last year's horse names.

What will the meal be?

The Eagles will prepare a brown-sugar Bourbon pork loin, with vegetable [most likely roasted Brussel sprouts, rice pilaf, and hush-puppies. Dessert will be a surprise and part of an activity. Water and coffee are included. A cash bar is available.

How do I purchase a horse?

There are up to 90 horses available to purchase and name. Via the Main Street Wellington website www.mainstreetwellington.org OR by visiting Cherished Creations, Wellington Music, and Main Street Wellington where tickets and horses are being sold. Call 440-647-3987 if you have further questions.

Do I need to be at the event to purchase a horse?

No, you can purchase a horse and not attend. If your horse wins a race- you will be contacted to pick up your prize [a $50 value]

How does the race work?

Ten horses run each race. If you wish to "bet" on one or more, the betting windows will be open for you to place small bets on your chosen horse(s) The brilliant minds of Jolly Roger Entertainment will figure out the odds for each race/each horse and if you bet well- you win cash!

What about the last race?

Jolly Roger will "auction" off horses to people, groups i.e. your table to raise a large purse for the last race. If your [your groups] horse win- that purse will be split between Main Street Wellington, and you [your group]

What is the money going towards?

Main Street Wellington coordinates a bunch of activities for July 3 and 4th. Including the fireworks that are at dusk on July 3 or rain-date July 5. Fireworks cost roughly $15,000 for a 20 minute show. The celebration is for the greater Wellington community and is a lot of work and expensive!
