About this event

The Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Instructor course is designed to equip law enforcement officers with the skills to provide instruction on the administration of SFSTs. The class teaches techniques for instructing adult learners and how to apply those techniques to the SFST course material.

Course Description:

This course is a 32 hour classroom course which includes instruction on:

  • Effectively teaching and providing effective feedback to learners
  • Effective instruction principles & learning environments
  • SFST Curriculum Package
  • Effective Feedback, Coaching, and Proficiencies
  • Effectively Promoting Participation and Interaction
  • Dealing with Training Challenges
  • Developing and Using Training Aids
  • Effective Classroom Presentations
  • Planning & Managing a Live Alcohol Workshop

Class Prerequisite- Students must have successfully completed the NHTSA basic SFST class and be compliant with all Colorado SFST Standards. Colorado Standards can be found at- CDOT SFST Standards . POST requires that you submit an ARIDE/SFST Instructor Affirmation Form prior to attending.
