Elucidating the Role of Circadian Biology and Meal Timing in Cardiometabolic Health on May 2-3, 2023.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hosting a two-day virtual workshop titled Elucidating the Role of Circadian Biology and Meal Timing in Cardiometabolic Health virtual workshop on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 - Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 pm (EDT) This virtual workshop will examine the interface between circadian rhythms and nutrition in the pathophysiology and management of Cardiometabolic diseases and conditions. The discussion will highlight emerging discoveries linking circadian and nutrition science, and identify opportunities to apply these discoveries into medical practice to improve prevention, treatment and health outcomes. This NHLBI-wide workshop is aligned with the goals of the NIH Common Fund’s Nutrition for Precision Health powered by the All of Us Research Program, the NHLBI Nutrition Research Implementation Plan, and the new NIH Sleep Research Plan. The workshop will convene a multi-disciplinary group of investigators to highlight emerging research linking the circadian clock to nutrition-related HLBS disease risks, pathophysiology, and interventions. The discussion will focus on meal timing frequency, quantity and quality, and will explore: <ul><li>The mechanisms underlying the relationship between circadian clocks and nutrition</li><li>The perturbed pathways that drive cardiometabolic diseases and relevant conditions</li><li>Opportunities to implement and/or improve circadian-based interventions, such as intermittent fasting and time-restricted eating. </li></ul>This workshop will elucidate research gaps and opportunities in this emerging topic and reveal a path forward to improve health and well-being through tailored therapeutic dietary intervention strategies.Workshop Date(s): <ul><li>Tuesday, May 2, 2023: 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM EDT </li><li>Wednesday, May 3, 2023: 12:00 PM – 4:30 PM EDT </li></ul>There are four (4) sessions over the two (2) days, each session containing individual talks, as well as, a Synthesis Session.<ul><li>Basic-to-Translational Research</li></ul><ul><li>Meal Timing, Eating Patterns and Human Health Outcomes</li></ul><ul><li>Nutrition Priorities from Federal Partners </li></ul><ul><li>Clinical Evidence for Effective Interventions</li></ul>The workshop is free and will be recorded and posted to NHLBI webcast. Live closed captioning on the videocast. Zoom access details will be emailed to the registrant one (1) day in advance of the workshop.
