2019 MORNING SESSIONS:

Alfred Publishing Reading Session

Experience new works for band from Alfred Publishing in a reading session led by Composer, Educator and Conductor Dr. Scott Watson. The session will include a mix of high quality pieces for all levels with a special emphasis on repertoire for elementary and middle school bands. KHS America will provide sample background and student instruments for use during the session, however all participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments/mouthpieces.

Fun and Games with Instrumentalists

You’ve no doubt heard the old saying, “You can attract more flies with honey than with vinegar.” Likewise, sometimes you can get more out of your young students in band when you embed the learning in a game! This fun session perfect for our Summer Workshop will be a deep dive into many games, races, contests, and other fun activities that can be infused into your teaching to help motivate, encourage and excite young musicians to higher levels of performance and learning.

Presented by: Dr. Scott Watson, Parkland School District Music Educator

Composer in Virtual Residence

Sharing our experience bringing composers into our classrooms and concerts via technology. Our students, parents, colleagues, and administrators have all enjoyed the experiences. We will leave you with ideas to easily implement this program in your school.

Presented by: Ashlen Udell and Tom Murphy

Bridgewater Raritan Middle School Band Directors

Bar-B-Que Style Lunch will be provided

Basic Band Instrument Repair Clinic (Bring your questions!)

This session will offer tips and tricks to keep your students playing through the most commonly experienced technical issues for each instrument of the band. Attendees will receive a take home repair manual with all the techniques covered in the session and resources for tools and further learning.

Presented by: NEMC NAPBIRT Certified Technician Ernie Seemann
