The Practice of Catechesis Certificate is a 12-month online formation program consisting of five courses and a retreat experience. The program begins in October 2024. All live teaching sessions are on Saturdays from 10 am to 1pm ET.

Course 1. Principles and Practices of Catechesis

Teaching sessions: October 12 and November 9, 2024

Course 2. Designing Catechesis for Families and Age Groups

Teaching sessions: January 11 and February 8, 2025

Course 3. Leadership Practices for Catechetical Ministry

Teaching sessions: March 8 and April 5, 2025

Course 4. Leadership Skills for Catechetical Ministry

Teaching sessions: May 3 and June 7, 2025

Course 5. Designing Educational Programs for Families and Age Groups

August 9 and September 6, 2025

Retreat: The Spiritual Life of the Catechetical Leader

One Day Program, Fall 2025, date to be determined

Each of the five courses incorporates:

Live Sessions: Two synchronous (scheduled) 3-hour teaching sessions – one per month on Saturday mornings – led by the NCCL instructor

Application Meetings: Two synchronous (scheduled) 90 minute online sessions – one per month – led by the NCCL instructor

Online Learning: Asynchronous (on-your-own) online learning to deepen the knowledge, skills, and practices introduced in the teaching sessions using the NCCL online learning platform

Application Project: Demonstration of how the knowledge and skills are utilized in catechesis
