Description
In this May workshop, participants will be guided through the Women Business Owner certification process. Together with Rebecca Rodriguez, Ronnette Riley will discuss her firm’s over-twenty years of experience as a certified WBE on the federal, state and local levels. Business owners and those thinking of becoming business owners will be exposed not only to the certification process but what lies beyond as a WBE; understanding the importance of and how to utilize one’s WBE status to its fullest potential. Ronnette Riley along with her firm's prominence as a WBE has granted her opportunities to work with many city agencies such as: CUNY, DASNY, DCAS, DDC, NYCHA, OGS, PANYNJ, SCA, SUNY and more.
What Is The Purpose of Certification?
Being a certified Woman Owned Business is a tool designed to increase opportunities for women. It’s not a charity program nor does it give women special treatment. It’s designed to increase visibility.
It’s also a way for government and corporations that have subcontracting goals to meet directly with Women Owned Businesses.
The Advantages of being Woman Owned Business are that by getting officially certified you have a much better chance of working with the government and large corporations. They are the largest buyers of goods and services and often award contracts specifically to women. These contracts can be constant, reliable sources of income.
