BodyPlaceProject is a platform through which Gretel Taylor and collaborators create, facilitate and curate performance and art projects that research and respond to site and situation, often referring to ecological, cultural and historical layers of place.

Sunday October 7th, 10am-4pm
Eagles Nest Picnic Ground, Olinda, Dandenong Ranges
Facilitated by Peter Fraser, co-director of Environmental Performance Authority and performing member of De Quincey Co. 
As human beings we are part of nature, but also make our own physical and social world. We have a habit of neglecting, forgetting or destroying the connection. In this workshop we will explore ways of dancing with nature. Our approach is not to imitate nature, but to notice the dance that nature has already started, heed its rhythms and accept the ‘offer’ to join in. 
Morning:        Warm up, guided walking, breathing and sensing activities, exploring the forest environment
Lunch:            Shared lunch
Afternoon:     Finding your favorite patch of the surrounding environment, getting to know it, feeling your way towards a short movement sequence in/with that site, with coaching available. 
Video:            These brief sequences will be recorded and edited together as a short (5 min) group dance video. 
No prior dance skills required
Wear loose clothes to roll around in.
We prefer to work barefoot – but up to you
We’ll share a picnic lunch – so bring something to share
COST: $45 student or concession/ $55 full  (this is subsidised by the workshop being part of the Force of Nature project, supported by Yarra Ranges Council)
