Come along to our  second series of workshops and learn different conservation skills!

Vogrie Country Park

<h3>Attending</h3><p>The day is open to everyone, including young people! However, the day is not specifically for younger people or families, and younger people should bring an adult with them to participate in activities. This is unless you/ your young person is fully capable of attending a learning day on their own. This would involve managing different tools, navigating across the park, and attending different session without extra support.</p><p>If you would like, we can discuss different options for attending , and you can email me at corrie.maccormack@midlothianclimateaction.org.uk to talk about you/ a young person attending or any other attendance concerns.</p><p><br></p><h3>Bring with you!</h3><p>Please bring clothes you don't mind getting muddy, and shoes that can manage well in the mud or wellies. For the foraging session, gloves would be ideal, as well as a bag or container to take what you foraged home with you.</p><p>Please bring waterproofs and/or appropriate clothing for the day</p><p>If you would like to, you can bring some food to smoke over applewood, as we will have a fire with the applewood prunings from our ochard pruning session.</p><p><br></p><h3>Arriving/ Departure</h3><p>The day will begin at Vogrie House, a few minutes walk in to the park. On google maps, this can be searched for as the treetop cafe.</p><p>A Map of the park is attached below.</p><p>There are parking spots near the house and at the entrance of the park, as can be seen on the map. The parking costs £3/day.</p><p>The 51, 29, and 48 bus routes are the nearest bus services, but all involve at least 35 minutes of walking aftwards. The gorebridge railway station is the nearest rail connection, and is then a 1 hour walk. Cycling from each of these locations can take around 15-20 minutes.</p><p>On the day, there is also a park run happening in the morning which will cause potential issue with parking, and may block the main paved path up to the house but there are other ways to walk through the park.</p><p><br></p><h3>Accessibility</h3><p>There are accessible&amp; standard toilets in vogrie house, as well as at the top car park and near the adventure playground.</p><p>At the parking, there are dedicated disabled parking bays.</p><p>There is an accessible entrance to Vogrie House to the rear of the building. There is also an accessible lift in vogrie house to access the disabled entrance and toilet on the lower floor.</p><p>Paths: The main paths are suitable for all. Secondary paths may have steep slopes or uneven ground. Vogrie House is accessible via main paths.</p><p>There will be multiple people at each of the workshop sessions, with back and forth discussions. Some workshops sessions will involve sitting down, while some will involve walking around and doing some practical activities. There is no need to attend all of the workshops, and there should be a choice of which workshop you want to do at what time. You can also leave half way through the day or arrive later on in the day.</p><p><br></p><h3>Food</h3><p>Vegan Lunch will be provided on the day.</p><h3>Agenda!</h3><p>You can pick one workshop to do in each workshop slot ( as they happen at the same time) and so you are able to do 3 workshops in total. The bat box and bird box have 10 and 9 spaces respectively, and will have a sign up sheet on the day to make sure that there isn't too many people in the workshop.
