Join in a guided hike led by local naturalist and poet, Dr. Bill Griffin, for a chance to observe the birds and native plants along the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. You are encouraged to bring any field guides along with binoculars, cameras, and phones. Due to limited parking at Isaac's Trailhead, carpooling from the Elkin Village Shopping Center lot (N Bridge St, Elkin, NC 28621 - front parking row between Wells Fargo and the shopping center road sign) is recommended (leave from lot at 9:45AM). The hike will start at 10AM for an easy 2-mile out-and-back.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any prior birding, botany, or plant ID knowledge?

Nope! This hike is for 100% first-timers along with well-versed scholars. All ages welcome too!

What should I bring?

Appropriate, comfortable clothing for the outdoors (it will likely be warm and humid), water, snacks if needed, sunscreen, hat, ID tools (see 'About this Event').

Are pets allowed?

We ask that you please leave furry companions out of this one. Dogs can startle birds and compromise the experience for some, cats (in case anyone would inquire)... um NO this is a 'bird' hike, crazy! Horses/pack animals are not permitted on this section either.
