For youth currently in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

Youth will learn more about Iowa's ecosystems by exploring parks in the area. Monday, July 1 will be at Maquoketa Caves State Park. Drop off and pick up at Picnic Shelter A at Maquoketa Caves. Youth will explore caves and woods and learn more about these habitats.

Naturalist Camps, 3 options (sign up for 1, 2 or all 3)

Day 1: Monday, June 3 - Water Day (drop off and pick up at the Hurstville Center)

Day 2: Monday, July 1- Woodland and Cave Day at Maquoketa Caves State Park

Day 3: Monday, August 5 - Prairie Day (drop off and pick up at the Hurstville Center)


Camp is held outdoors. Please dress for the weather and activities.

Bring a lunch, snacks, reusable water bottle, and complete change of clothes and shoes in a backpack. Other optional items to bring include, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and sunglasses. Leave all electronics at home. An email with this information will be sent to participants one week before camp. Bring a flashlight for caving!


Thanks to Friends of JCC, scholarships are available for youth that would otherwise not be able to attend camp because of the cost. Scholarships are available to cover half the cost of camp. To receive a scholarship for your child for camp, contact Jess Wagner at jwagner@jacksoncounty.iowa.gov before registering. You'll receive a code to register online for the reduced rate.


Refund Policy: Refunds will be issued if notification is given at least 14 days before first day of camp. No refunds within 2 weeks of camp. We cannot refund the processing fees charged by eventbrite.com. If your child can't attend camp, please let us know as we usually have a waiting list for our camps and another child can fill that spot. Contact Jess Wagner at jwagner@jacksoncounty.iowa.gov regarding refunds.
