About this event

Join Keep Growing Detroit and the National Wildlife Federation on Saturday, October 9th at the KGD Farm from 10a-12p for a working lesson focused on maintaining perennial flower gardens with an emphasis on native plants. At this hands-on event, KGD Farm Manager Akello Karamoko will teach participants how to identify, remove, and manage common weeds. As a group, we’ll practice collecting seed as well as pruning, dividing, and transplanting established plants. After we work, Akello will lead the group in a discussion on best practices for overwintering gardens and preparing for spring. As an added bonus, all participants will go home with 5 native plants to add to their landscapes!

To keep everyone safe during the pandemic, this event will be outside and limited to 25 participants. Masks and advance registration are required. Please bring water, gardening gloves (if you need them), and come dressed to get dirty.
