It  is a ceremonial process rooted in Indigenous traditions, used to foster deep listening, equitable sharing, and community healing. Participants sit in a circle, passing a talking stick so that only the person holding the object may speak, while everyone else listens respectfully.

Where did talking circles come from — what is their history?

They have been part of many Indigenous societies used in governance, conflict resolution, teaching, healing, and community decision-making. Many communities experienced disruption of their traditional practices due to colonization, assimilation policies, and cultural suppression. REVITALIZATION
