Description

This is a ground floor opportunity to be a part of first wave of NASAR Tracker Evaluators on the West Coast. TRACKER EVALUATORS MUST know how to track humans and must have a certain level of Search and Rescue field experience. Please do not take a spot in this Workshop if you are just interested in seeing what this is about. We ask that you are already a SARTECH II (exceptions will be extended) and that you have taken several two day tracking courses (exceptions will again be extended, contact Organizer). Part of this Workshop will be taking the NASAR TRACKER EXAM which will rate your tracking level to one of four:

TRACK AWARE

TRACKER III

TRACKER II

TRACKER I

Following the SARTECH II Evaluator model, the NASAR Tracking Exam will have a need for Lead Evaluators as well as Evaluators. Upon completion you can then file for and obtain Tracker Evaluator status through NASAR . Find forms here: www.nasar.org/policies_forms

NASAR Evaluators must maintain an individual membership in NASAR. If you are a current member, your cost for this workshop will be discounted $30. We expect our Tracker Evaluators to be a minimum level of a TRACKER II and will place a level of TRACKER I expectation on our Lead Evaluators.

This Workshop will expose you to the NASAR PAM (Friday night), The NASAR Tracker Exam itself (on Saturday) as well as an "under the hood" look at the setup and scoring of the Exam on Sunday.

Future workshops are not planned in this area at this time.

The NASAR Tracker Evaluation Exam is a written test and 6 field stations. Tallied scores throughout will determine your knowledge, skills and abilities in 5 skill set categories: detection of human sign, interpretation of human sign, recording of human sign, tactical planning of a signcutting follow-up and trailing (the actual following of a human trail.

This Workshop will be held in Camp Silverado. Camp is up in Amador County off Hwy 88 - Google Map Camp Silverado Lodge. UTM 10S 0751862E 4283774N LAT/LON 38.6667, -120.1052 Camping is included (Tents and small RV camping. Large RVs are not advised).

Camp is primitive and currently dry, as in no water - dry. Bring in drinking water. Plan on cooking your own meals or eating at one of three restaurants in the area. We'll supply BBQ Tri-Tip for Saturday night dinner. Kit Carson Lodge (closest and most expensive), Plasse Resort (cheapest) or Kirkwood Inn (furthest away and no breakfast). Spouses or sig others can join you in a camping experience while you attend the Workshop at a small additional charge of $15 a head ... max 3 family members.

Check-in will begin at 1500 on Friday and we will begin the Workshop with the NASAR PAM Instruction at 1900 in the Lodge followed by the NASAR Tracker Exam written test. If you have taken the PAM or this test at a prior NASAR Tracking Course, you will not need to repeat unless you'd like to improve your score. You must pass this test with an 80% to become an Evaluator. Preparations for the written test can be accomplished through attendance of NASAR’s Tracking Course and/or reading one of 4 books on the subject of SAR tracking. All are available from the NASAR Bookstore.
