Who is eligible to participate in the competition?

The competition is open to all those who meet the eligibility criteria for this challenge. Please refer to the "Eligibility Criteria" section on our website for detailed information.

When is the submission deadline?

The submission deadline is July 25, 2025. Please make sure to submit your entry by 5:00 PM PDT (8:00 PM EDT) to be considered.

Are participants required to specifically follow white paper and video submission guidelines?

Accepted Answer

Formatting and length rules should be explicitly followed. All content guidelines are listed as suggestions and may be adjusted by participants to best define the solution. The Judging Criteria are the specific guidelines that will be used by Judges to evaluate submissions.

Can I submit more than one entry?

Participants are allowed to submit only one entry per person or team. Submission revisions are allowed ahead of the deadline. Only the final submission will be adjudicated.

Entries will be judged based on the evaluation criteria outlined on our challenge site.

When and how will the winners be announced?

Accepted Answer

NASA may announce up to three winners in September 2025. Winners will receive $100,000. Announcements will be made on this website and through our social media channels.

What are the prizes for the winners?

NASA may select up to three (3) winning solutions to receive $100,000 each.

Is there a registration fee?

The competition is free to enter. Registering will give you regular updates on the challenge and a submission link.

Can I  edit my submission after I've submitted it?

Yes, only the final submission received before the deadline will be considered.

Can I apply by myself or do I need to apply with a team?

Accepted Answer

Individuals can apply independently, as a team, or as an organization. See eligibility rules on our challenge site.

When will I know if my submission has been accepted to the competition?

Applicants will receive a confirmation email verifying receipt of their submission document and video.

How will this challenge support the participants' ideas and protect their solutions?

Accepted Answer

Participants retain ownership of their solutions, inventions, and intellectual property pertaining to solutions presented to NASA as part of the challenge. NASA may choose to negotiate for a license to use the solutions developed due to this competition. Visit our challenge site for more info.

We welcome a breadth of solutions, from approaches to boost the F1 score of IEEE's 2024 flood contest beyond current winners to theoretical methods for faster flood data analysis. Your innovative idea only needs to meet our judging criteria - we're eager to see it!
