Narrative LIVE | A Community Learning Experienceis our educational series based on the premise that Narrative ideas can be best learned, practiced and embodied in community. This has been our philosophy since our inception in 2006 when we, as a group of educators, students and health professionals, first began meeting to discuss and practice the tenets of post-structuralism, social constructionism and Narrative Therapy within our integrative health setting. Over the years we have learned that being in the company of supportive colleagues who are paying close attention to relational ethics, performances of power, and with a keen ear towards our narratives of resilience and emerging initiatives, we can come to know ourselves better and begin to cultivate and inhabit the identities we prefer.Narrative LIVE is for educators, students, mental and medical health professionals as well as community members from various disciplines who are interested in learning about and practicing Narrative ideas first developed by Michael White and David Epston.

Narrative LIVE | A Community Learning Experience is our educational series based on the premise that Narrative ideas can be best learned, practiced and embodied in community.

NISD Counseling invites you to attend a &quot;practice-shop&quot; led by Ron Estes. This training encourages a move from note-taking to rendering practices that enable clients and therapists alike to come to novel and useful understandings. Rendering practices provide ways to stay close to clients’ experiences as we inscribe their expressions in and on their terms. How might we render clients’ expressions to align with what they place value upon? Rendering practices support listening and question-smithing in ways that can bring connected, relaxed, ethical, enlivened and effective conversations. This hybrid zoom / in-person training is designed for licensed and pre-licensed mental health professionals, students, case managers and others who keep clinical records. A﻿bout the Speaker: Ron Estes, LMFTRon is interested in the conditions that promote learning in conversations. He practices, consults, and teaches with an ever-growing community of narrative practitioners. Regular study in the 90’s with Michael White, Marie-Nathalie Beaudoin, and Jeff Zimmerman and current collaborations with Jan Ewing, Daniel O’Sullivan and NISD community members have shaped how he approaches practicing. Ron stays connected to physical and literary arts that inform the inseparability of physiology and the narratives we make that influence perception, meaning-making, action, identity and health. Toward this, he collaborates ongoingly with those in healthcare and a rich variety of artists. As well, Ron practices as a consultant to leaders of organizations.
