The 3rd Annual Roland Somerville Golf Tournament will take place during NAREB’s National Convention being held in the city of New Orleans, LA, Wednesday, July 31, 2024; Shotgun start 8:00AM. Our beloved brother Roland Somerville was a lifelong member of NAREB and a strong black male role model in the organization. He loved God, his family, his friends and the Realtist Nation. He was Loved, Respected and Admired for his commitment to everything that he was involved in, especially during convention time.
The tournament will be held at the historic Joseph M. Bartholomew, Sr. Municipal Golf Course which is a 18-hole, par 72-course. The course was named after Joseph M. Bartholomew who was an African American golfer who specialized in designing golf courses. He became the first African American man to ever build a public golf course in the country.He also was the first African-American inducted in the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the Roland Somerville Scholarship fund and allow the New Orleans Real Estate Brokers, Inc. to continue to strive for “Democracy In Housing” through education and advocacy.
