Nano Science and Art with Dr. Stephanie Zaleski

Dr. Z will be discussing her research involving Nano-Science ,and how it applies to Art, as well as discuss how to detect art forgeries using scientific tools.
Can we use light to see hidden paintings? Can we learn whether ancient Greek sculptures were painted with colorful pigments, even if they appear unpainted to us now?

Dr Zaleski is chemistry professor at California State University East Bay, where she uses lasers and microscopes to study how materials used in works of art change over time and how chemistry can help us preserve art for future generations.
