About this event
- 1 hour 30 minutes
Join author Ben Greene for a discussion of his new book: My Child is Trans, Now What?
As a transgender activist who has been out for almost 10 years, Ben Greene has learned a lot about what it means to build a life filled with trans joy. In this conversation, he'll share a few of his favorite "joy exercises" from the book, talk about impactful strategies for building a safe, joyful world for transgender young people, and how to combat misinformation and vitriol where it arises in trying to build those spaces. This event is open to queer folks and allies alike, and no previous knowledge is required. As long as you come in with curiosity and compassion, you're welcome here!
______
I am a transgender advocate and educator who has spoken internationally on topics surrounding transgender inclusion. After coming out at 15 in a small town, I have devoted my career to spreading empathy, education, and storytelling around the trans experience, and have spoken for companies, hospitals, schools, religious organizations, and government entities sharing what it means to be transgender and how to show up as an ally. I am a fierce advocate for transgender youth, regularly speaking in their defense at the Missouri State Capitol, and am publishing a book for parents and families of transgender youth. I am passionate about educating others from a place of compassion—no matter where they’re starting from.
