About this event

  • 3 hours

We have another great mystery this summer for our loyal supporters of the Irmo Branch Library. This year's show-Murder on Main Street- is an original script set in Columbia in 1910. Come hungry and ready to solve a murder. The evening includes a full dinner buffet, with choice of entrees and dessert, two drink tickets for beer/wine, door prizes, and the always popular costume contest.

If inspired, we would love to see our guests in period dress from the early 1900s.

Murder on Main Street-

It's 1910 on Columbia's Main Street, and everyon's talking about the latest entertainment, the Vaudeville Extravaganza at The Grand Theater, featuring Marco the Magnificent, an expert knife thrower, and The Marvelous Marvelline,a magician. No one wants to miss the show; not state senator Hampton Huger--although his wife, Zinnia is less than thrilled-- nor traveling salesman Bill Brown or local madam Maude O'Riley and her girls. Of course, Pastor Obadiah Wright protests when the show conflicts with Wednesday prayer meeting. But everyone else has a great time, until the knife throwers assistant Flo Conway stumbles out of the theater and falls dead from a stab wound. The clues point to the knife thrower, but who else could have done it?

Who We Are

The annual Murder Mystery Dinner is one of the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library's biggest fundraisers. The show features local talent volunteering their time for a great cause.

Funds raised support the Irmo Branch Library's programs th a variety of ways. We purchase materials and equipment and fund programs for all ages. We also support development activities for library staff, provide scholarships for local high school students, and pitch in to help close any gaps the librarians identify.
