What to Expect
In this Victorian-era adventure pub crawl– inspired by the the book Abel Bodied: Murder at the Malden Bank written by Malden-native Michael Cloherty, and a real Malden historical 1863 murder – you and your companions will be taking on the role of investigators. You will visit four different bar/restaurant locations and meet a host of interactive characters, and interview them. Many of them will have pen & paper puzzles that you can solve to further unlock clues about the case. At the end of your adventure, by analyzing the clues and motive, means, and opportunity, you will try and identify who is the culprit!
Tickets are spread out in 20 minute increments beginning at 5pm with the event wrapping by 10pm. Choose the time slot for your group to show up and begin your adventure. Depending on the pace of your group it can take anywhere from 1 - 3 hours to complete. You set the pace based on how long you take to solve the challenges and linger at each location to enjoy food and drink.
Story Overview
It's been over 2 months since the December 15, 1963 murder of Frank Converse at the Malden Bank. You have been contacted by E. S. Converse, President of the Malden Bank, to track down a witness statement that contains the identity of the person who murdered Frank Converse, his son. It has been nearly two months since Frank’s murder, and the town is growing desperate to find out who committed the heinous crime! Converse is offering a $6000 reward to anyone who can solve the murder. There was a single witness, but the person is afraid to reveal their identity for fear of reprisal. They have locked their statement in a lockbox that is now in the possession of the town's Constable, and hidden the combination in different locations in Malden.
Your Role
You and your fellow investigators (up to 8 in a group) are all Private citizens that have decided to band together and take on this investigation, since Malden has no formal police force as of yet.
L ocations
This Pub Crawl takes you to multiple locations in downtown Malden connected to the historical murder that are also now conveniently drinking establishments! But this is not just a pub crawl! At each location you will encounter interesting characters who will present you with challenges and puzzles to solve to unlock the mystery behind the murder. Decide who to help, and see if you can solve the crime!

- LOCATION 3: 3 Amigos - 375 Main St, Malden, MA 02148
- LOCATION 4: Faces Brewing Co.- 50 Pleasant St, Malden, MA 02148
This is an easy 15-minute walking course and all locations are ADA accessible. There is plenty of parking in the area should you need to drive from one location to the next and accessible parking and entry to the spaces.

Timing & Logistics
You and your group members will sign up for a specific start-time. Start times are staggered by 20 minutes, which allows you to move from location to location to meet the characters and solve their challenges before another group comes along. We encourage you to patronize the various establishments, but not linger too long in any one place or you may run out of time to complete the mystery.
If you run into another group already talking with our characters, please allow them some time to complete their interactions before approaching.
When you have collected all of the clues, you can return to your starting location and decide how the story ends!
COVID-19 Safety
Please adhere to the safety protocols outlined by each location you visit; bring a mask in case it is required by the venue. All of our staff are vaccinated and will put on a mask when requested.
FREE Parking
Free parking at the city garages at 170 Centre St or 7 Jackson St. Please do not park at the Idle Hands parking lot as that lot is needed for regular customer traffic. Park in the city garages or street parking and walk over to Idle Hands-- it's a very brief walk!
Age Restrictions
This interactive story is playable by families, and most locations are restaurant/bars. There is no gore or bad language used, though the subject of intrigue is an unsolved murder. Ultimately, you know your kids better than us and we trust you to make decisions that are suitable for them.
Costumes
Costumes for the event are not required, though Pub Crawl staff will be dressed in 1864-appropriate clothing. If you enjoy dressing up, we encourage you to do so!

This ticket comes with an amazing experience with talented actors and puzzles designed by professionals! You get hours of real, in-person entertainment, brought to life for you by some of the most skilled people in the interactive entertainment industry.
Though the story has remained the same we have updated our puzzles to keep the experience as fresh as possible!
Most participants complete this adventure in ~2 hours. The puzzles in this show are fairly lightweight and not too difficult!
Not necessarily. If you're paying really close attention you may be able to solve the murder without doing any puzzles.
Malden has a ton of parking, both on the street and in garages located at XXX. Please DO NOT PARK at Idle Hands Brewery.
Please don't. Please plan to arrive early so you have time to park, walk, etc, before you start. We start groups every 20 minutes and that staggered time is necessary so that everyone can have a good experience. Lolly-gaggers will be asked to wait until we can fit them into a proper time slot.
