Springtime Hike: Protecting Our Trails

Embrace the beginning of spring on a long-distance hike with the Conservancy!

Spring in Ohio usually comes with lots of rain, and with lots of rain comes lots of mud. On this hike, you’ll learn about best practices for hiking muddy trails, the work that volunteers and different groups do to maintain our trails, and how to ensure that you “leave no trace”.Conservancy staff will also highlight the mental and physical health benefits of being in nature. We’ll go over proper gear for springtime hikes and the importance of staying on the trails during this time.Drinks and cookies will be provided, and a small goodie bag of “mud-themed” items will be given out at the end of our adventure.Conservancy Members: $10 | Non-Members $12Proceeds will directly support Conservancy programs and initiatives, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Although this trail is family-friendly, we do not suggest children under the age of 12 attend due to the length of the hike and the terrain.This event will take place in the southern area of the park. Directions and exact location will be emailed to you after registering. Our guided, almost 3-mile hike will be on a well-established NPS trail with muddy terrain and moderate inclines. This trail is unpaved and is not wheelchair accessible.

At this time, while community levels of COVID-19 are low, you are not required to wear a mask at Conservancy events. We ask that you still respect personal space and understand that some individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal reasons. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID, please stay home. We will continue to monitor community levels using the CDC’s new tool and may require masks again if transmission rates go up.***If you or someone in your group have a compromised immune system and need our staff to wear masks or use additional PPE, please contact us and we will arrange appropriate accommodations.***Refunds will be offered in the case of cancellations due to COVID concerns.
