No! Our team loves to teach new players how to play Magic: the Gathering almost as much as we love growing our community. All you need is a willing mind and soon you too can be slingin' spells and walkin' planes.

Do I need to know how to play EDH/Commander?

Accepted Answer

No! If you already know how to play Magic: the Gathering, EDH/Commander is a fairly straightforward form of the game and there will be plenty of players around willing to teach.

Do I need to have my own EDH/Commander deck?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. If there's on thing for sure about MtG players, it's that they have more decks than they can possibly play.

Can I bring my kids?

Absolutely! Rule 0 conversations are important for the format and our players and our team are flexible in play style. Likewise, Fair State is happy to accommodate kids in their taproom.

Proxies? Yes? No?

Yes! Our passion and excitement for this project sits firmly at the intersection of Community and Magic: the Gathering. MtG is an expensive hobby and limiting participation in and the growth of Community by way of a pocket's depth runs contrary to our passion, excitement, and Mission.

I don't drink beer. Is there anything for me to drink at Fair State?

Accepted Answer

Of course! In addition to a wide array of alcoholic brews, there are N/A beers, there is kombucha, there are THC seltzers, and there are hard seltzers.

Question 7

What's the parking situation at Fair State?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, Fair State does not have a parking lot. There is street parking available on Central and adjacent surface streets.
