The chance to thru-hike section 6 of the MST! Hikers will meet at the Elkin Recreation Center at 8:15 am. Shuttles will be provided to the Stone Mountain Country Store where the hike begins. You can carry your gear (Tent, sleeping bag, etc) for overnight camping at Wells Knob or we will "slack-pack" your gear if you wish. You can purchase lunch at Tripplett's grocery in Austin. Thursday night supper as well as "campfire entertainment" will be provided. Friday breakfast will be provided before hiking into Elkin. Shuttles, entertainment and meals are provided for "donations only". If you are interested in all or part of our hike/paddle fill out the form when you click 'Register'. Frequently asked questions

Should we meet at the hike's start OR will we shuttle to the hike?

We will shuttle from the Elkin Rec Center (399 NC HWY 268 West) at 8:15 AM. There is ample parking for Thursday night. Keep in mind you may want a ride back to the Rec Center on Friday afternoon.

What should I bring?

Any necessary gear and clothing for a two-day hike + a night camping, so the overnight packs are essential! Water bottles, enough snacks, appropriate foot wear and camping essentials are necessary. Trekking poles, bug spray, a charged phone and extra clothes are nice to have too!

Who should I reach out to for specific questions?
