About this event

Family & Education • Education

This session will help reposition the EDI conversation from polarizing debate to authentic dialogue that recentres equity work as a teaching & learning endeavour that requires us to make mistakes, fail, and be confused.

Like any authentic learning, it is messy, we will make lots of mistakes, and even fumble (and fail) a time or two. That is expected (and a good thing) — this means we are growing and stretching your learning edges!

In our shift from content to skills, we will practice how to have tough conversations, the role of discomfort, and practice how to prioritize dialogue over division in conflict resolution. Whether it's grabbling with what to say in December on holiday cards or deciding on gendered bathrooms or sports teams, we will equip you with the tools to tackle the complexity of diversity with compassion that prioritizes people over politics.
