The Nevada City Film Festival presents Movies Under the Pines, an outdoor cinema experience for the entire family at the Pioneer Park bandshell in Nevada City. Enjoy the fun, inventive, and family friendly Alice in Wonderland (2010) on our 32-foot screen - Nevada County's largest outdoor screen!

A young girl when she first visited magical Underland, Alice Kingsleigh (Mia Wasikowska) is now a teenager with no memory of the place — except in her dreams. Her life takes a turn for the unexpected when, at a garden party for her fiance and herself, she spots a certain white rabbit and tumbles down a hole after him. Reunited with her friends the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), the Cheshire Cat and others, Alice learns it is her destiny to end the Red Queen’s (Helena Bonham Carter) reign of terror. (PG, 1hr 48min)

Plus a Steampunk Inspired Tea Party with Lawn Games, Treats and Tea, Dressing Up is Strongly Encouraged

“This latest rendition of “Alice in Wonderland” is a journey worth taking mainly to see Tim Burton’s imagination at play. The story is so well-known, but you haven’t seen it done quite in this way before.” – The Examiner

“Armed with a smartly reshaped but still reverential script by Linda Woolverton (“Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King”), Tim Burton has delivered a subversively witty, brilliantly cast, whimsically appointed dazzler that also manages to hit all the emotionally satisfying marks.” – Hollywood Reporter

The film festival brings in state of the art projection and sound to create an outdoor movie theatre on the grass at Pioneer Park. Beer, wine, popcorn, and soft drinks are available for purchase. Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks allowed. Outside alcoholic beverages prohibited. Blankets and low back chairs are suggested. Gates 7:30pm, Film Sunset.
