auditions suck.

i can sympathize with that dreaded pit when it's time for the "mover call" - made even worse when you've been through days or months of scenes, sides, and songs and it feels like it's all riding on one 45 minute session with the choreographer, who may or may not know the counts to their own choreography. I feel the opposite about vocal callbacks, and holy shit god fobid a sight-singing callback!!???

Hi I'm Milena! I started my pivot from dance into MT in about a hundred unpaid asst choreo/assoc choreo jobs, and have slowly built a performing career of the dancer-only or dancer-first jobs that usually come with a side of dance captain. And, as much as I love dance? Empowering people with the tools to find and achieve their movement and dancing life within their shows is just as fulfilling to me.

I don't really consider myself a dance teacher. The hype warmup, the odd tricks and combos designed to make performers feel cool or look cool in their videos is not it for me. I prefer to coach! There are so many things to talk about, when it comes to both dance itself and dance auditions, that have nothing to do with whatever bullshit technique we feel like we need to accomplish getting the job.

I'd love to do this with you. I want to keep the class price as low as possible so it makes any kind of sense and affordability to come more than once a year. We will work on wiring the neural pathways for movement and CONNECTING to movement, remembering movement. It just takes reps! Especially if you're not in dance auditions often, let's just get you some reps and some multihyphenate tools in your toolbelt. We'll warm up efficiently, move through basic patterns and skills, and "mover audition" style combos. Only $10 for the first 10 people who sign up <3 curated for professionals, but all are welcome!
